DIOGENES Kick-Off meeting 2023

An event is planned to officially inaugurate the activities of the DIOGENES networking group on October 12-13, 2023 in Krakow. The two-day event will offer an opportunity for Ph.D. students, and recent post-docs (DIOGENES target group), as well as more experienced researchers to participate in attractive workshops and international discussion panels.

The 2023 Kick-Off meeting program will include, among other things: workshops devoted to ERC grants, applying for research stays in the United States, writing academic monographs, publishing in prestigious specialized journals, and archival law in the field of access to legal and historical research. Among the foreign speakers, there will be both people who have been cooperating with the Jagiellonian University up to now, as well as valued researchers from notable European academic centers (including Augsburg, Cologne, Maastricht, Palermo, Rome and University College London).

• “Legal History and ERC” 
Invited Principal Investigators of ERC grants will present the background of applying for and implementing ERC grants in the field of legal history.
 
• “Legal History beyond the Atlantic Ocean. Part 1 – Fellowships. Part 2 – Academic Career.”
These workshops will present experiences the moderators have had in obtaining fellowships, along with some of the realities of studying the history of law overseas.
 
• “Publish or Perish in Legal History. Part 1 – How to Write a Monograph. Part 2 – How and Where to Publish.”
 The editors-in-chief of prestigious magazines and publishing houses will present the effective secrets of academic writing at the highest levels.
 
• “Archival Law and Research on Legal History” 
Can archival law effectively hinder research into the recent (and not only) history of law? Representatives of several European research centers will answer these questions.

There is no conference fee. Organizers can assist with finding accommodation in Krakow.
